CONTROVERSIAL OPINION (Real Clear Education - Young Voices): *Gasp* AI In Schools?

It is okay to have controversial opinions, even as a conservative. In fact, I realize how much I am thinking for myself when I have an opinion that may go against the grain. I wrote an op-ed for Real Clear Education about how educators should embrace artificial intelligence (AI) in schools.

Why?

It will prepare students for the modern workforce!

My dad said, “If you don't use AI, someone will and take your job.”

I have said AI will not necessarily take our jobs, but people who utilize AI will, leaving others behind.

AI is not perfect — there is no such thing as a perfect learning tool — but it’s also nothing for parents or educators to fear. Educators have long been wary of technology advancements, and used to fear computers and calculators in classrooms because they were worried students would be too reliant on these machines for their work. Nowadays, these are commonly used in schools and the workplace.

I have used AI to help me improve my writing and even craft better content!

Yes, to a degree we should fear it, but it is also not the end of the world!
