DESERET NEWS OP-ED: I benefited from school choice. The ‘Utah Fits All Scholarship’ will help others like me

School choice clearly a passion of mine, especially that it benefited me when I lived there! Now that Utah has the Utah Fits All Scholarship Program, this will benefit more students! I shared my school choice story in this piece, and I look forward to seeing students have expanded access to education options in the Beehive State.

School choice is a WINNER! Rep. Candice Pierucci also shared that upon the closing of the program, 27,270 children have applied for it, and that is TRULY exciting!

Yes, yes. One of my favorite things to talk about is that education savings accounts are not vouchers.

Unlike voucher programs, which are solely for private school tuition, ESAs offer more flexibility for families. This distinction sets ESAs apart from voucher programs and provides a broader range of educational opportunities for children. Not only will they let families choose where they want to send their children to school, but they will be able to use funds for tutoring, transportation and after-school activities.
