Miss Fort Eisenhower USA - Miss Georgia USA Interviews
Miss USA has now concluded, and it was absolutely amazing to see so many women on that stage. I am grateful to have gotten to know some of the ladies, as well!
Before I took the stage at Miss Georgia USA, I had several local and national interviews. Truthfully, in addition to my coaching by the amazing Jamie Hadfield, these media opportunities helped me in the interview room in front of the judges. I also did have one media interview after the competition with my friend Mallory Finch (Those Other Girls).
My first interview was with Amanda Head - The Hollywood Conservative on her “Furthermore” podcast.
With Amanda, I had the opportunity to talk about my school choice platform and being a mom, as well as some of the issues going on within the Miss USA organization following the resignations of both Miss USA and Miss Teen USA. Of course, I discussed how we can save pageantry altogether, especially in a system this big.
As a product of school choice, it gave me a voice. Not just any voice, but a voice as a conservative Christian woman who is not afraid to speak the truth but still show love and kindness to others. Also, who knew that pageantry would be one of the best tools for lobbying and outreach on this issue?
Okay, this next interview was one of my favorites, and it focused on my story on being a mother, being involved in my community, and doing my work especially while my husband is deployed. It touched a little on school choice, which was discussed a little more in the article.
“Just because you’re a mother, doesn’t mean your life is over. Honestly, I’ve seen my life truly just begin after having my child. I’ve been so much more active not just in his life, but the life of my husband, and even my career in public policy and Journalism. I just get to find ways to balance everything I do, and as a freelancer in my area I get to have more of a voice.”
While I did not directly touch on pro-life issues, I wanted to send a message to women and mothers that their life does not end just after having a kid. It only truly begins. I have become more independent and confident ever since I have had my son, and that independence and confidence only skyrocketed after my husband left on deployment. As much as I don’t like him away, we feel as if this has been a wonderful time for me to become stronger.
My career has also changed for the better ever since having my son, and it may not be traditional, but I am getting closer to my dreams and goals.
This one was also another fun interview, and one of the ladies who interviewed me also used to do pageantry, so she knew what to ask and talk about with me!
Then the same day after the interview above, I joined Young Voices’ Moving Forward to talk about competing for Miss Georgia USA, as well as my platform on empowering the children of military families and school choice! Interview starts at 21:10. This is where I go into a deep dive on policy issues!
Of course, I cannot forget my post-Miss Georgia USA interview with my friend Mallory Finch with Those Other Girls!
